Is Your Family Prepared?

You're at home and suddenly someone has a heart attack, a fire breaks out, a tornado is sighted in your neighborhood, or there is a terrorist attack in the City. Would you or your family know what to do? The members of the Metropolitan Emergency Manager's Committee (MEMC) in Safety City at the Remodeling Show do.

Safety City is a 10,000 sq. ft. exhibit featuring equipment and displays by regional emergency Preparedness Agencies, all with the purpose of teaching you and your family how to be prepared in case of an emergency. Exhibits will include fire equipment, an ambulance, communication, emergency response vehicles and an American Red Cross Canteen. A Regional Public Health Trailer includes a thermal imaging display that reads body temperatures, while an interactive Safety Trailer is specifically designed to teach younger children about fire safety. The National Weather Service will showcase a Portable Weather Radar System, a Weather Spotter Car and a "Tornado In A Box."

Emergencies and disasters may be rare occurrences, but they do happen. You and your family may not be able to prevent them, but you can be prepared to act, not out of fear, but out of advance preparation. Safety City and the City, State and Federal agencies of MEMC are at the Kansas City Remodeling Show to help you prepare for such an emergency.
