The Kansas City Pet ExpoReptiles, Up Close and Personal
"David Nieves brings you Reptiles, Up Close and Personal" a fun, fast-paced, educational romp through the realm of reptiles. Five to six amazing live reptiles from around the world are brought out during the program including the amazing Maggie, a sixteen foot long albino python that David has had since she was a foot long. The audience will learn how we are different from reptiles, what we share with them, and why we need them around.
David has been fascinated with reptiles since he was eight years old. He has devoted himself to the field of herpetology, creating Reptile Education and Research in 1990, a facility dedicated to the study of reptiles and amphibians from around the world. His career as a research herpetologist takes him to many amazing places to study and photograph these incredible creatures. David's photographs are in his two children's books: Reptiles Up Close and More Reptiles Up Close. He is currently working on a new book: Amphibians Up Close.
David has been part of the Pet Expo since its inaugural year, 2005, and continues to be an integral part of the Expo's mission to educate and promote responsible pet ownership.
What Color is Your Dog?
Joel Silverman, The 2008 Trainer of the YEAR and host of ANIMAL PLANET'S "GOOD DOG U" will be conducting fun-filled and informative dog training seminars.
Joel Silverman from Animal Planet's Good Dog U will be at the Expo both days. He was recently named "2008 Dog Trainer of the Year". Joel and his dog Foster will perform 2-3 times each day demonstrating how he trains animals for movies and commercials. A few lucky audience members will get the opportunity to work with Joel and Foster in the demonstrations! Between shows Joel will be available to sign his new book "What Color is Your Dog?", and answer questions.
